I Led design on the dashboard products for Mariana Tek, coordinating with sales, research, product, and development on new features. This iteration created a positive feedback loop with our customers and teams, contributing to the sales and exponential growth of the business from national to global.
Collaboration
I collaborated deeply with sales and research to identify customer needs and ensure my design directions would lead to customer success. This involved on-site research with clients and in-person whiteboarding sessions with stakeholders. Through focused outcome-driven meetings I was able to glean insights and avoid assumptions to inform products.
I developed an approach to sharing information openly with teams, empowering everyone in the organization to have access to the assets they needed and encouraging feedback and ideas to improve workflows. For example, the reports team would regularly need access to icon libraries of customer “badges” or need new badges created for clients, so I created a library of badges for them to download while also creating a queue for them to request new ones.
Design systems
A fragmented approach to building our interfaces was taking a toll on team velocity. Every table and button had to be rigidly defined and design QA would frequently hold up critical features. As we were in a rapid growth phase of the business, there wasn’t a budget to pause on new features and overhaul the entire interface. I worked closely with engineering to ensure the designs I was giving them were consistent while slowly introducing higher-level design components.
Gradually I managed to create a cohesive design system that increased our velocity without needing to pause on new feature development. This built confidence in our platform with both the development team and our customers, leading to high velocity and increased customer success.
